The QFQ for February, 2011 is finished and should be in your e-mail or USPS box soon. Jessica KB1NBO, our editor, e-mailed it to me and then sent me a note that she and Steve KB1NBP were at the airport, ready to start their South America adventure. Hopefully they’ll send lots of pictures.
Those with any level of CW skill, and an interest in keeping or improving their skills, are heartily invited to join in on the Vermont New Hampshire CW Net, 7 PM (Local) each night on 3539. All skill levels are welcome. I received an e-mail from Bert Morton W1DFU, asking to put out the word. Participation is falling off. For those who take pride in the “code” and hope to see it endure, please join Bert and the net.
Don’t forget the “Ham Breakfast” this Saturday, 9:00 A.M. (local) at J.P.’s in Essex Junction. Anyone wishing to carpool, give me a call. I’m hoping to make it there.
February CVARC meeting – February 2nd. Same time, same place. Hope to see you there. de KB1NGQ
Apparently, I don’t read our own advertising. Both the QFQ and our add in the Vermont Amateur Radio Directory have stated that monthly meetings are “6:00 Meeting” (i.e. 18:00 LT). I have been calling the meetings together at 18:30. Apparently, I need to eat faster, meet and greet sooner, and pay attention to the clock. I will endeavor to adhere to the “6:00 Meeting” time, henceforth.
See the minutes in the upcoming QFQ (due out soon) regarding passage of the proposed repeater net use policy. It passed. Enough said.

Please note, just for clarification, that the currently posted policy (as of 01/01/2011) is “PROPOSED”. The proposed policy will be brought to the membership at the January 5th, 2011 meeting for discussion, modification, and voted on, prior to adoption. de KB1NGQ
CVARC’s new “Repeater Net Use Policy” document has been posted and is available on our CVARC Nets page.
January’s QFQ Report is available on our QFQ Report page.
Due to lack of interest, the CVARC Holiday Dinner at the Canadian Club is postponed. We needed a head count of 20, and had only 10 commit — then a few changed their minds!
We will next meet at the Steak House on Wednesday, January 5th at 6:30 p.m. (5:30 p.m. for dinner party).
Another date for a get-together will be discussed at the January meeting.
CVARC’s QFQ Report for December, 2010, has been published and is available for downloading from our QFQ Report page.
The QFQ Report for November, 2010, is now available at our QFQ Report page.
Also, please note the change the location for Wednesday’s meeting. It will be an antenna-making party, and will take place in the home — well, the garage — of club vice president, Gary Sheridan. See the QFQ for details of the meeting and for information on the holiday party.
The October 2010 CVARC meeting will be on the 13th (second Wednesday evening), NOT the 6th (1st Wednesday evening as usual). Attendees at the September meeting voted for this change. Same place and time (Steak House, Barre-Montpelier Road, “Meet and Greet” 5:30-6:30 p.m., Meeting at 6:30). See this month’s QFQ for details. I may not be able to make the meeting as my YL [Jackie] is recovering from surgery for a badly broken left femur.
The October 2010 QFQ is available on the QFQ page. Thanks to Jessica Noyes [KB1NBO], our Editor, to Erik Mueller-Harder [K1US], and all those who contributed.

We’re having a bit of difficulty getting the combined July_August QFQ (newsletter) out to the distribution list. However, it is available as a download (“pdf”) on the QFQ page at the beginning of the 1st paragraph.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: We had a relatively small monthly club meeting last night (Aug. 4th). Attendance is always a bit thin at this busy time of year. Avi Freund [K1AKF], our PIO and Volunteer Coordinator noted two upcoming Amateur Radio Operator volunteer communication events as:
Saturday, September 4th. Northfield Labor Day Foot Race. The race starts at 10:30 a.m. and is a 5k run/walk. We meet at 9 a.m. in front of the Northfield Savings Bank on Depot Square Park (route 12) to map out a strategy and then go to our respective positions.
Sunday, September 26th, Waterbury Crop Walk. The Crop Walk is a fundraiser for the Waterbury Food Shelf and world wide relief services. The walk is a 3k walk that starts and ends at the Waterbury Congregational Church, just north of the intersection of South Main and Stowe Streets. The walk continues counterclockwise around River Road, Route 100 and back onto Main Street. This walk has been supported by amateur radio operators for the past seventeen years. Walk begins at 1. Volunteers assemble at the church at noon.
Until we get Avi’s e-mail linked as “thepio@w1bd.org”, please e-mail me to get in touch with Avi and other volunteer coordination.
