July_Aug QFQ Available and Volunteer Op.’s

We’re having a bit of difficulty getting the combined July_August QFQ (newsletter) out to the distribution list.  However, it is available as a download (”pdf”) on the QFQ page at the beginning of the 1st paragraph.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: We had a relatively small monthly club meeting last night (Aug. 4th).  Attendance is always a bit thin […]

NO JULY 7th CVARC MEETING

As in the past, due to the 1st Wednesday in July coming on the heals of “Field Day”, Independence Day Celebrations, and summer vacations for many members, there will be no CVARC meeting the first Wednesday of July.  We will, however, meet the 1st Wednesday in August (August 4th) at the Steak House on the […]

CVARC HAS A NEW “SPECIAL EVENTS” CALL SIGN

Thanks to research, efforts, numerous e-mails, and phone calls by Wayne Dorsett [WA1YNE], and great assistance by the ARRL, CVARC has a new FCC issued “Special Events” Call Sign.  The impetus for obtaining the new call sign was Wayne’s careful reading of the Field Day GOTA station requirements.  Wayne had mentioned this issue in previous […]

Vermont City Marathon This Sunday 5/30/2010

Volunteers are still needed for this Sunday’s “VCM”, especially:
“…a critical need for a Trail Bike Operator. Such an operator must
be very capable on a bicycle and on a radio (both at same time!). The job
is to follow the last official runner in the race and advise NCS on their
pace and location. It is a very […]

“.625″ Back on the air

Due to the good graces of Allen Wilde N1IOE, and Tom Girardi WA1YNU, taking their unpaid time,  at my request  to re-install the “PA”, find the problem (blown fuse), and get the 146. 625 repeater back on the air, the repeater is just that, back on the air!.  Regardless of anyone’s opinion of the “nets”, […]

Repeater “Next Steps”

Regarding “Next Steps”

In the interest of resolving the contention on the CVARC, Inc. 146.625 MHz “W1BD” Repeater, the following “Steps” are being taken:

1) Allen Wilde [N1IOE], CVARC’s Repeater Technician and “Repeater Committee Chair” will correct any technical problems with the repeater and get it “back on the air” at his earliest convenience.

2) When […]

146.625 Repeater Update

The 146.625 (Mt. Pleasant W1BD) repeater is, and will be “off the air” for an undetermined time.  Our Repeater Technician, Allen Wilde [N1IOE], suspected the problem might be with the power amplifier (PA).  Tom Girardi [WA1YNU] and I hiked to the site, yesterday (Feb. 16), found the controller “apparently” functional, tried to key […]

146.625 Still Down

The CVARC 146.625 repeater still off the air.  Our Repeater Technician, Allen Wilde [N1IOE] needs to physically inspect the repeater to assess the problem.  Allen will let me know when he has a chance to get up to the site to check it out (not a fun time of year to get […]

146.625 Down Again

The repeater went down, again, yesterday (8-Feb-2010).  The “Repeater Committee” is aware and will deal with it as time allows.  A trip up to the repeater site is probably necessary.  As the weather, snow, and trail conditions permit, the problem will be accessed and corrected.  In the meantime, I encourage all who frequently use the […]
