Field Day and VE Session

There will be a VE Session (testing for your 1st, or upgrade to your current license) at CVARC’s 2009 Field Day, Saturday, June 27th. The test session will begin a 1700 Z, 1:00 p.m. Local Time at our Field Day location at our usual Barre Town Recreation Center. For directions see Field Day 2009 under the “Comments” section on the right side of the home page.

Please join us for load in (Friday afternoon, from 4:00 on), further set-up Saturday morning, “Pot Luck” lunch between noon and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday (bring your favorite dish and maybe some to share). Those who possibly can would be extremely welcomed to a Sunday morning breakfast of pancakes, bluberries, eggs, sausage, coffee, and of course Maple Syrup. Sunday morning breakfast will start between 6 and 7 a.m.. Coffee will be available for the taking, or making, throughout the weekend.

Saturday afternoon through early Sunday morning we will be operating a “2A” station with various bands available, as well as the GOTA station (Got On The Air) from the “CERT” (Civilian Emergency Response Team) trailer, for unlicensed visitors who would like to learn about Amateur Radio operation.

For those with Amateur Licenses; Remember that there will likely be ample opportunity to try out bands you may not currently have transmitting priviledges for, as there are likely to be higher class licenced Amateurs there to fulfill the “control officer” role.

I hope to see a great turn out. So far, no predictions of rain for Saturday….Amazing! Keep your fingers crossed and don’t forget your raincoat.
